Al-Qaeda Presents The Moral Case For U.S. Intervention In Syria

Below is a statement by Jamal Ahmed al-Tahiri, the spokesman for Al-Qaeda in Damascus (AQD).

In the Name of Allah the Merciful, America the Accursed, Aslam O' Alikum,

There are calls from the capitals of the world to punish Bashar the dog. We welcome this news. The crimes of Assad and his Satanic regime are legion. So far, he has gassed his imprisoned people with impunity, this latest one in a suburb in our beloved Damascus being just one among many examples.

All true Muslims must fight against Assad's tyranny and brutality. If Obama attacks Assad he will show himself to be a truer Muslim than the so-called Muslims who fight for Assad's gang, such as Hezbollah.

Mr. Kerry's words on Assad's latest monstrous crime are echoed by us. He said, "Our sense of basic humanity is offended not only by this cowardly crime but also by the cynical attempt to cover it up. At every turn, the Syrian regime has failed to cooperate with the UN investigation, using it only to stall and to stymie the important effort to bring to light what happened in Damascus in the dead of night." Mr. Kerry is a sincere, beautiful, and honest man, may Allah's mercy be upon him.

We instruct Mr. Kerry, Mr. Obama, and other Muslim voices in the West to seek justice for the Syrian people and unmask Assad. This is the only just and humanitarian response in this situation. God calls on America to act. We in Al-Qaeda in Damascus are standing by and willing to lend a hand to the Obama administration and aid it in its heroic efforts to teach Assad basic lessons in international law and humanitarian conduct.
