Below is a statement by Jamal Ahmed al-Tahiri, the spokesman for Al-Qaeda in Damascus (AQD), denouncing the diplomatic compromise that has been made by the United States and Russia over the issue of Syria's chemical weapons. AQD says Assad cannot be trusted with handing over his country's chemical weapons stockpile to international observers, and is already transferring these weapons to Iraq, Iran, and Lebanon.

In the Name of Allah the Merciful, America the Accursed, Aslam O' Alikum,

Al-Qaeda in Damascus reacted to the news on Saturday morning that the United States and Russia reached a deal regarding Syria's chemical weapons arsenal with great shock and sadness. There are no words to convey our disappointment. Peace is not a victory in the morning light when tyranny still prevails at the end of day. And, tonight, tyranny is prevailing in Damascus because the United States decided to place its trust in Putin and Assad, a very grave mistake that it will soon regret.

Due to Obama's weakness and indecision as well as misplaced international sensitivity to civilian casualties as a result of an American attack on Bashar the dog's satanic regime, Assad gets to enjoy several more months in power, with total freedom to continue killing his people and turning them into refugees.

Assad's satanic cousins in Tehran are partying tonight. They see that if enough international pressure is put on the White House then it will change its stance and deviate from its original goal. This is a very bad precedent.

Recent history has proven that Assad cannot be trusted. He says one thing and then does another. Not only is Assad strengthened by this Russian-American compromise, but he now has breathing space to transfer his chemical weapons to the nuclear bunkers near Tehran and to the jungles under the control of the so-called party of God in Lebanon.

We in Al-Qaeda in Damascus denounce this compromise as foolish, weak, short-sighted, and stupid. But we also see new opportunities because of this new and unexpected twist in the plot.

If America will not bring justice to Assad and defend the Syrian people's rights, as it has promised, then we will. We have already stepped in to fill the void left by deal-making tyrants who talk of red lines but don't back it up with action. We have our people on the ground here, going door to door, knocking on mosques and churches, praying and fighting, singing and dancing, killing and looting, living and dying.

Assad may escape the grasp of Obama's shaking fingers, but he won't escape our wrath. Insha'Allah Assad will fall, whether tomorrow or six months from now. Assad has nowhere to go but down. And when he crosses the red line of death, there won't be an Obama on the other side waiting and wavering in the wind, but rather the stern rebuke of Allah.
